| Welcome to John's Photographs of Texas Tech v. Iowa Pics San Antonio, Texas - December 29, 2001 |
Texas Tech University, representing the Big XXII Conference, was the home team against the Big 10 team the Iowa Hawkeyes in the 2001 Sylvania Alamo Bowl. Texas Tech unfortunately lost the game 16-19, with the last play "hail mary" interecption in the endzone as time ran out. Moments earlier Iowa kicked a 48 yard go a head field goal with only 44 seconds left in the game to take the winning lead. We were sitting in section 102 right next to the Goin' Band from Raiderland and had great view of the Iowa endzone and the "hail mary" pass. Read about this exciting game in the Lubbock Avalanche Journal, the San Antonio Express-News and the Iowa City newspapers.
The Pre-Game celebration included the Iowa Band and Cheerleaders as well as the Red Raider Goin' Band from Raiderland, Tech Cheerleaders, the Masked Rider, the Texas Tech Ex-Students Association and the U.S. Army who by the way didn't know yellow and black were not a welcomed color to Red Raiders on this day.
