Oslo/Asker - USA Friendship Tour

Colleyville, Texas - November 15-16 2002

The Asker Aliens, a Norwegian basketbal sports club near the Norwegian capital of Oslo, participated in Colleyville Heritage High School's Third Annual Lady Panther Tip-off Classic as their last event in their 2002 Metroplex visit. Colleyville Heritage High School is one of the high schools in Texas' Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District and is located in the Metroplex city of Colleyville. The Asker Aliens sent their girls and they were split into Varsity and Junior Varsity brackets,Asker's press release. The Asker team members were (on Varsity) 4: Thea Mangen Morin, 5: Linn Bratberg, 6: Heniette Birkelund, 7: Tina Stenerud Moen, 8: Anne Hoddevik, 9: Marit Stien, 10: Kristina Tonheim, 14: Pernille Birkelund and number 15: Henriette Garas. On the JV team were number 4: Nina Sognnas, 5: Lise Vassmoen, 6: Amanda Young, 10: Kristine Gundersen, 11: Lene Giaver, 12: Hanne Finseth, 13: Kristin Vik, and number 14: Marianne Bohn. Head Coach is Galina Ragoczina.

The JV team competed against Grapevine High School loosing 30 to 42, then played Collyville Heritage loosing 53 to 30. The Asker Varsity team first played the host Colleyville Heritage Lady Panthers loosing 78 to 52. Asker then played Abilene Cooper Lady Croogs defeating Cooper 47 to 40 in a spectacular overtime game, but lost the next game to Montgomery 56 to 43 in a close competative game (Asker was in-fact ahead with a lead with under 5 minutes left in the game). The pictures below are from the JV's game with Colleyville Heritage game and the Varsity's games with Cooper and Montgomery. After the tournament, the Asker Aliens head for Seattle for another week of activities and another tournament before returning home.
