I went to the 2002 Sons of Norway District 1 Convention after being elected a delegate from the new Fort Worth, Texas Hvor Vesten Begyenner Lodge 1-654; Though the Fort Worth lodge was new I attended the 2000 Cedar Rapids, Iowa as a delegate from the Plano, Texas lodge. The delegation from Texas (sub-district 8) also known as the "The Texas Posse". The geographic remoteness of Texas from the rest of the district and our equal pride and enthusiasm in all things Texan and Norwegian was the reason for the formation for the POSSE. Members of the second 2002 Texas Posse were: Rolland "RB" Brendsel, Norine "Calamity" Cherry, John "Trigger" Eberly;William "Wild Bill" Isch, Julia M. "Roadrunner" Knutson, Tove "Yellow Rose" Lindemann, Gus "Gusto" Melendez; and our "Marshal", Sub-district Director Philmon Erickson. The Posse is investigating hosting the yanks for the District One Convention in 2006.
