THURSDAY: The morning began with the first Walk-a-thon around Lake Breiatnet. After the morning breakfast guest speaker Dennis Zahrbrock gave a stirring presentation on insurance and estate planning options. Following Zahrbrocks presentation the delegates broke into two cultural groups with seminars on rosemalling, genealogy, and folk music with Hanne Krogh. After lunch the business sessions resumed. During the day there were competitions in the peasant style of painting used for decorating furniture, weaving, Hardanger embroidery, other needlework with Norwegian motifs, hand-knitting, crocheting and tatting, figure carving and relief carving with Norwegian motifs, chip carving and bent wood, as well as other items with a Norwegian motif, e.g. stained glass pictures, photographs, paintings etc. During the exhibition there was a demonstration of different old techniques in textiles and arts and crafts. |
